Florent MENG

created May 02 2017

Florent Meng graduated from the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris and Workmaster Program in HEAD Geneva. His photographs and films have been shown at the Musée de L'Élysée in Lausanne, Galerie Marianne Goodman, Galerie Jousse in Paris, and various international fairs.

Since 2010, Florent Meng has created a hybrid body of work built around resistant forms and figures. He is interested in populations, particularly in the Middle East, and examines how a territory can influence the behaviours of communities and how, in return, attitudes and custom can shape a territory or a population. His joint use of photographic series and film on the one hand and of fiction and documentary on the other functions as a relational strategy, creating tension between tools of domination and appropriation.
